Skewed Evolving Data Streams Classification with Actionable Knowledge Extraction using Data Approximation and Adaptive Classification Framework

    Get PDF
Skewed evolving data stream (SEDS) classification is a challenging research problem for online streaming data applications. The fundamental challenges in streaming data classification are class imbalance and concept drift. However, recently, either independently or together, the two topics have received enough attention; the data redundancy while performing stream data mining and classification remains unexplored. Moreover, the existing solutions for the classification of SEDSs have focused on solving concept drift and/or class imbalance problems using the sliding window mechanism, which leads to higher computational complexity and data redundancy problems. To end this, we propose a novel Adaptive Data Stream Classification (ADSC) framework for solving the concept drift, class imbalance, and data redundancy problems with higher computational and classification efficiency. Data approximation, adaptive clustering, classification, and actionable knowledge extraction are the major phases of ADSC. For the purpose of approximating unique items in the data stream with data pre-processing during the data approximation phase, we develop the Flajolet Martin (FM) algorithm. The periodically approximated tuples are grouped into distinct classes using an adaptive clustering algorithm to address the problem of concept drift and class imbalance. In the classification phase, the supervised classifiers are employed to classify the unknown incoming data streams into either of the classes discovered by the adaptive clustering algorithm. We then extract the actionable knowledge using classified skewed evolved data stream information for the end user decision-making process. The ADSC framework is empirically assessed utilizing two streaming datasets regarding classification and computing efficiency factors. The experimental results shows the better efficiency of the proposed ADSC framework as compared with existing classification methods

Objective: There is an immense need to develop an alternative antimicrobial source for the treatment of several infectious diseases and restrict its vectors. So, evaluation of phytochemicals from Mentha piperita, its antibacterial and adulticidal potential was undertaken in the present study. Methods: The organic solvent of ethanol and water were used for the preparation of extract for the study. These extracts were analyzed for the qualitative and quantitative phytochemicals. Antimicrobial activity was determined by using agar well diffusion method, and Bioassay was carried out by "Sugar Bait" Method to check adulticidal potential. Results: The Mentha piperita were found a rich source of phytochemical compounds like diterpenes, steroids, tannin, flavonoids, cardial glycosides, alkaloids, phenols, coumarin, and saponin. Both the extracts possesses active antibacterial compounds which shown antibacterial activity. The aqueous (5% of 50 µl) and ethanolic (5% of 100 µl) extract (EA) were found as effective concentration. Salmonella typhimurium showed resistance against both the extracts. The aqueous extract (AE) has found with effective adulticidal potential. Hence it can be used to control and repel most popular disease spreading Dipterian vector, Musca domestica. Conclusion: These results confirm the presence of antibacterial, adulticidal compounds in Mentha piperita which gives an opportunity to explore the possible usage of Mentha piperita in the development of antibiotics and insecticides. Keywords: Mentha piperita L., Phytochemical analysis, Antibacterial, Adulticidal potentia

Comparative Pressure Drop in Laminar and Turbulent Flows in Circular Pipe with and without Baffles using FEV

The study of Turbulent flow characteristics in complex geometries receives considerable attention due to its Importance in many engineering applications and has been the subject of interest for researchers. Some of these include the energy conversion systems found in same design of heat exchangers, nuclear reactor, solar collectors & cooling of industrial machines and electronic components. Flow in channels with baffle plates occurs in many industrial applications such as heat exchangers, filtration, chemical reactors, and desalination. These baffles cause turbulence which leads to increases friction within the pipe or duct and leads significant pressure drop. This work is concern with the comparative flow and pressure distribution analysis of a smooth and segmented Baffles pipe. In which pressure drop during the flow is examined and with the help of hydrodynamic characteristics performance is predicted with the help of Finite element volume tool ANSYS- Fluent, where simulation is been done. The goal is to carry out evaluating pressure drop across the pipe using different turbulent model and at simulation is done for wide range of Reynolds number in both laminar and turbulent flow regimes. The FEV results are validated with well published results in literature and furthermore with experimentation. The FEV and experimental results show good agreement

Parvoviruses are typically linear, non-segmented single-stranded DNA viruses, with an average genome size of 5000 nucleotides. Parvoviruses are some of the smallest viruses found in nature. Some have been found as small as 23 nm. Many types of mammalian species have a strain of parvovirus associated with them. Parvoviruses tend to be specific about the taxon of animal they will infect, but this is a somewhat flexible characteristic. Thus, all strains of parvovirus will affect dogs, wolves, and foxes, but only some of them will infect human. Parvovirus is treated with the help of vaccines but the traditional vaccine development process is very expensive and unsafe, with the help of insilico software tools and databases we can predict the epitopes of parvovirus species such as Canine parvovirus, Feline panleukopenia virus, H-1 virus, LUIII virus, Mink enteritis virus, Minute virus of mice, Porcine parvovirus, Raccoon parvovirus, by using Bepipred, CTLpred. These predictions will be useful for reverse vaccinology against parvoviruses infections for cattle and mankind

Study of effects of donepezil and aspirin on working memory in rats using electroconvulsive shock model

Background: Memory is the most common cognitive ability lost with dementia commonly seen in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Donepezil was the first cholinesterase inhibitor to be licensed in UK for AD. There is preliminary evidence that aspirin decreases the risk and delays the onset of AD. Low dose aspirin users had numerically lower prevalence of Alzheimer’s dementia and had better cognitive function than non-users.Methods: Retention of conditioned avoidance response (CAR) was assessed by using repeated electroconvulsive shocks (ECS) in rats. Rats were divided into five groups: control (pretreated with distilled water), ECS (150 V, 50 Hz, with intensity of 210 mA for 0.5 sec) pretreated, combined aspirin (6.75 mg/kg) and pretreated ECS, combined donepezil (0.32 mg/kg) and pretreated ECS, combined aspirin, donepezil and pretreated ECS groups. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and ANOVA.Results: Findings show that administration of ECS daily for 8 days results in transient amnesia and disruption of retention of CAR. Aspirin and donepezil administration significantly increased the retention of CAR in comparison to ECS. However, aspirin failed to show an increase in the retention of CAR as compared to donepezil. The combination of the two drugs showed statistically significant increase in the retention of CAR than either of these drugs given alone. Conclusion: Neuroinflammation plays an important role in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorder like AD. Combination of aspirin with donepezil increased the nootropic and neuroprotective effect of aspirin and thus may hold great clinical significance in such disorders

This paper presents the modeling and optimization of quarter car suspension system using Macpherson strut. A mathematical model of quarter car is developed, simulated and optimized in Matlab/Simulink® environment. The results are validated using test rig. The suspension system parameters are optimized using a genetic algorithm for objective functions viz. vibration dose value (VDV), frequency weighted root mean square acceleration (hereafter called as RMS acceleration), maximum transient vibration value, root mean square suspension space and root mean square tyre deflection. ISO 2631-1 standard is adopted to assess ride and health criterion. Results shows that optimum parameters provide ride comfort and health criterions over classical design. The optimization results are experimentally validated using quarter car test setup. The genetic algorithm optimization results are further extended to the artificial neural network simulation and prediction model. Artificial neural network model is carried out in Matlab/Simulink® environment and Neuro Dimensions. Simulation, experimental and predicted results are in close correlation. The optimized system reduces the values of VDV by 45%. Also, RMS acceleration is reduced by 47%. Thus, the optimized system improved ride comfort by reducing RMS acceleration and improved health criterion by reducing the VDV. Finally ANN can be used for predicting the optimum suspension parameters values with good agreement
